Volunteer Needed to Teach Beginner Tent Setup Class

The Preventive Search & Rescue Initiative is seeking a volunteer who lives within approximately 30 minutes of Hackettstown, New Jersey to help teach a beginner tent setup class in a local park.

This is not a camping trip. There is no camping involved, no overnight stay, and no sleeping outdoors. The event is simply a daytime demonstration where participants can learn basic tent setup and ask questions about getting started with camping and outdoor recreation.

Many people are interested in camping but have never had anyone show them the basics. While there are plenty of videos online, many people are looking for hands-on instruction and the opportunity to learn from someone with real experience.

As part of our mission to help people enjoy the outdoors safely and confidently, we believe that teaching simple outdoor skills before someone's first camping trip can make a real difference.

We're looking for someone who knows how to set up and take down a tent, enjoys helping people, and is patient with beginners. You do not need to be a professional instructor. If you're comfortable teaching the basics and answering questions, we'd love to hear from you.

Location: Within approximately 30 minutes of Hackettstown, New Jersey

Time Commitment: One-time event lasting approximately 1 to 3 hours

Volunteer Activities:

• Demonstrate tent setup and takedown
• Explain basic camping equipment and terminology
• Answer beginner questions
• Help participants gain confidence before their first camping experience

There may be opportunities to assist with future outdoor education events as well.
