Travel With Purpose: A 10-Month Volunteer Adventure Across Two Continents

Overview: Planet Aid, in partnership with Richmond Vale Academy (RVA), invites adventurous individuals to embark on the People 2 People Volunteer Program — a 10-month journey that lets you live abroad, explore new cultures, and experience life in the Caribbean and Africa. This program is perfect for those craving something beyond ordinary travel. You’ll build meaningful connections, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to sustainable development. If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience that blends exploration and purpose — this is your chance to see the world in a whole new way.

    Qualifications:

    • 18+ years old
    • Excited to explore: Perfect for individuals who want to experience life in new countries while contributing to meaningful community projects.
    • Curious and open-minded: Ready to learn new skills, embrace diverse cultures, and dive into unfamiliar environments with enthusiasm.
    • Adaptable and adventure-ready: Comfortable navigating new challenges, living in a group setting, and adjusting to life across different regions and landscapes.
    • All backgrounds welcome: You don’t need prior experience — just a sense of adventure and a genuine interest in exploring the world while supporting community-driven initiatives.

    Program Structure:

    Phase 1: Training (3 Months)

Start your adventure in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, where you’ll spend three months learning alongside other volunteers while exploring one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. You’ll dive into global issues, local culture, and sustainable living practices — all while building skills in teamwork, community living, and hands-on project work. This phase blends meaningful training with the excitement of living in a vibrant new environment.

Phase 2: Project Work (6 Months)

Your journey continues with six months living and working in your project country — an immersive experience that lets you become part of the community. Whether you’re supporting education, health initiatives, sustainable agriculture, or climate resilience, you’ll apply what you learned while exploring new landscapes, meeting new people, and fully embracing life abroad. This phase is an unforgettable combination of purpose, cultural exchange, and day-to-day adventure.

    Phase 3: Reflection & Evaluation (1 Month)

Your final month gives you the chance to look back at the journey you just completed the places you lived, the people you met, and the impact you made. Through group reflections and guided discussions, you’ll process your growth and your experiences before transitioning home. It’s the perfect way to close a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Program Start Dates: April and October

    Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement: Immerse yourself in local life as you work alongside community members to understand their priorities and support meaningful projects. You’ll explore new environments, meet incredible people, and contribute to initiatives in areas like education, health, climate resilience, and sustainability — all while experiencing daily life in a completely different part of the world.

Project Implementation: Take part in hands-on activities that put you right in the center of the action. This could mean helping run workshops, supporting small community projects, or teaching practical skills like sustainable farming or leadership. Every day brings something new and exciting, giving you the chance to learn, explore, and make an impact.

Cultural Exchange: One of the most unforgettable parts of the experience: connecting with local communities. You’ll build meaningful relationships, share stories, and see the world through new perspectives. From daily routines to cultural traditions, you’ll be fully immersed in a way ordinary travel can’t match.

Support & Learning: Throughout your journey, you’ll receive guidance and support from RVA instructors, mentors, and fellow volunteers. Training sessions and group activities help you build confidence and navigate your adventure with a strong, supportive network by your side.

Reflection & Growth: Take time to reflect on the places you’ve lived, the people you’ve met, and the adventures you’ve had. Through group conversations and evaluation sessions, you’ll look back on your growth — both personal and cultural — and leave with memories and experiences that stay with you long after the program ends.

    Behavioral Expectations:

As you take on this journey with the People to People Volunteer Program, you’ll be living, learning, and exploring in new environments alongside your team and local communities. To keep everyone safe and fully able to enjoy the experience, the program follows a strict no-drugs, no-marijuana, and no-alcohol policy for the entire 10 months. Staying sober ensures that you can take part in all activities, travel safely, and show respect to the communities hosting you. It also allows you to stay present, soak in the adventure, and make the most of every moment — from training in the Caribbean to working in your project country. We ask all participants to commit to this policy so we can maintain a positive, professional, and supportive environment where everyone can thrive and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Note: Volunteers must be committed to the full 10-month program and have the flexibility to travel and adapt to new cultural environments.
