Mentor an Adult Refugee
Descripción
Descripción
Want to support refugees in your community? Since 1982, RefugeeOne has welcomed over 22,000 refugees and newcomers from all over the world to Chicago - and we need your support to help them adjust to life in their new home!
Volunteers in our In-Home Adult Mentorship program will support an adult refugee (25+) as they build a life in Chicago! You will be matched 1:1 with a recently arrived refugee to support them in their transition to life in Chicago. Mentors help with a range of things, including:
- Practicing English
- Navigating the CTA
- Developing community connections and accessing local resources
- Sharing culture and hobbies
- ...and more!
Most importantly, you'll serve as a friend and guide to a newcomer.
Requirements: Minimum commitment of weekly meetings for 6 months in client home. Both weekends & weekdays available, flexible scheduling to match your availability. No additional languages skills required.
