At PIH Health we believe that no one should die alone. Vigil Volunteers provide a reassuring presence at the bedside of a dying patient who would otherwise be alone. This may mean providing companionship for the patient by merely being present, playing music and reading to the patient, or holding the patient’s hand. It could also mean providing support to family members who may need a break from the bedside of their loved one.
We ask Vigil Volunteers be on call for at least a four-hour shift each week. A background check, health clearance, and volunteer orientation are provided by PIH Health prior to placement.
