Ridgebury Farm is seeking a Volunteer Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a strategic financial leader and trusted advisor to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and leadership team. This individual will provide ongoing financial oversight, strategic guidance, and operational insight to help ensure the organization's long-term sustainability and growth.

As Ridgebury Farm continues to expand its clinical therapy services, wellness horsemanship programs, nature-based learning initiatives, and GROW financial assistance program, the Volunteer CFO will play a key role in strengthening financial systems, evaluating opportunities, and helping leadership make informed decisions that maximize both mission impact and financial health.

Key Areas of Focus

The Volunteer CFO will serve as a trusted advisor on:

• Financial strategy and organizational sustainability
• Budget development and oversight
• Cash flow management and forecasting
• Growth planning and operational scalability
• Revenue diversification and fundraising strategy
• Risk management and financial controls
• Capital investments and major financial decisions
• Long-term financial planning and reserve development

Responsibilities

• Review and advise on annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Provide strategic guidance on financial performance, trends, and key performance indicators
• Help leadership evaluate major investments, growth opportunities, and operational decisions
• Advise on revenue strategies that balance earned income, philanthropy, grants, sponsorships, and special events
• Review financial statements and provide recommendations to strengthen organizational health
• Support the development of financial policies, controls, and best practices
• Offer guidance related to audits, tax filings, compliance, and risk management
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, and financial resilience
• Participate in regular meetings with the Executive Director and leadership team
• Present financial insights and recommendations to the Board of Directors as needed
• Serve as a thought partner in aligning financial stewardship with mission impact
• Help develop financial models and strategies to support future growth and expansion

Desired Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in finance, accounting, banking, investment management, corporate finance, business operations, or a related field
• Experience overseeing budgets, forecasting, financial strategy, and organizational growth
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills
• Ability to provide objective guidance while supporting Ridgebury Farm's mission and values
• Solution oriented, philanthropic focus for long term impact

Time Commitment

• Approximately 4-6 hours per week on average
• Monthly review of financial statements, cash flow, budgets, and key performance indicators
• Regular meetings with the Executive Director and leadership team
• Participation in quarterly Board and Finance Committee meetings
• Availability for consultation on major financial decisions, strategic initiatives, and growth opportunities

This role is intended to function as an ongoing strategic financial partnership, providing consistent guidance and support as Ridgebury Farm continues to grow and expand its impact.

The CFO will play a meaningful role in helping Ridgebury Farm expand access to life-changing services, including hippotherapy, nature-based therapy, wellness horsemanship, and the GROW Program, which provides therapy services at no cost to individuals and families facing financial barriers. Through strategic financial leadership, this individual will help ensure Ridgebury Farm remains financially strong, sustainable, and positioned for continued growth and community impact.
