    9AM-Noon on Saturday January 31st, 2026

At Woods Creek in Monroe - 600 Simons Rd, Monroe, WA 98272

Please come prepared in tree planting attire (layers) and closed-toed, water-resistant shoes. This is a rain or shine event, but not a snow or frost event...if the ground is frozen we may need to reschedule. More about the Woods Creek Restoration Project:

In the summer of 2023 AASF worked with our partners to remove an abandoned creosote-log railroad trestle that had been polluting Woods Creek and acting as a barrier to salmon migration since 1939.

After the bridge removal, AASF installed in-stream log structures to create spawning and rearing habitat for native salmon (including the endangered Chinook).

Next, in February of 2024, with the help of hardworking volunteers like you, our Stream Team planted native trees and shrubs in the riparian zone of Woods Creek.

In October 2024, a Halloween themed Volunteer Mulch Party helped to enrich the soil at the site and provide a good base for those native trees and shrubs to continue to grow and thrive, so that in the future they will ensure the creek is properly shaded and can maintain proper water temperature to be able to sustain a healthy salmon run!

Now with your help we will continue to plant native trees and shrubs beside the creek banks, and strengthen the health of the riparian zone.
