Board Member — Board & Volunteer Recruitment
Descripción
Descripción
Boomers Collaborative Foundation seeks a volunteer Board member who would like to use their recruiting and relationship-building experience to help bring committed people into an innovative and urgently needed approach to affordable senior housing.
We are an Austin-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to create mixed-use, limited-equity cooperative housing where older adults can age together with greater affordability, stability, and connection. With our market study completed and funded community outreach underway, this is a meaningful time to join our Board and help move the work forward.
Our Talent Recruiter will help identify, engage, and recruit prospective Board members and volunteers whose skills and interests match the organization’s needs. Working with our President and other Board members, this person will help prospective candidates understand the work, explore where they could contribute, and move through our review and onboarding process.
How you can help ...
- Work with the President and Board to identify priority recruitment needs and clarify the skills and commitments each role requires
- Prepare and maintain volunteer opportunity listings and help share them through professional networks and appropriate outreach channels
- Actively identify and reach out to prospective Board members and volunteers
- Respond to inquiries, review candidate information, and hold introductory conversations
- Coordinate interviews and follow-up with the President and relevant Board members
- Keep candidate information and recruitment progress organized
- Help welcome new Board members and volunteers and connect them with the people and materials they need to begin contributing
- Share progress and recommendations with the President and Board
- Participate in Board discussions and decisions as a voting director
This opportunity may be a good fit for someone with experience in ...
- Recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, volunteer recruitment, or nonprofit Board development
- Identifying prospective candidates and initiating conversations about opportunities
- Listening carefully and assessing how a person’s interests, experience, and availability fit a role
- Communicating responsibilities and expectations clearly
- Organizing information, handling candidate information with discretion, and following through consistently
- Serving on a nonprofit Board or working with a small mission-driven organization
Prior Board experience is helpful but not required. We welcome inquiries from people who care about affordable housing, aging, cooperatives, community development, or economic security and whose experience may not match every item listed above.
