Summary of Position
Design and lead formal programs such as guided hikes, interpretive talks, and other nature education experiences for the public. Programs are advertised in the Jeffco Parks & Open Space (JCPOS) event calendar and can take place in our parks, facilities, or at other locations. Once completing the half-day training, simply pitch your program idea for staff approval and then have a positive impact on the parks and your community!
Duties
Independently propose, design, and lead programs for a wide range of audiences.
Program creation is the volunteer’s responsibility; staff is available to provide coaching on content and techniques.
Program topics must meet prior approval and relate to the mission of JCPOS.
Programs must be well organized and demonstrate a mastery of public-speaking skills.
Requirements
Lead one or more programs per year
Keen interest in the stewardship of JCPOS Parks and sharing a passion for nature and the outdoors with others
Friendly personality that enjoys working with diverse park visitors
Ability to work independently
Possess good decision-making and communication skills
Purchase a uniform and wear it while on duty
Complete required training before working independently
Volunteers must abide by JCPOS Park Regulations and established volunteer policies and procedures outlined in the JCPOS Volunteer Handbook
