    An initial six-week training, which includes classroom instruction on Saturdays, online classes and reading, and mentorship. After the training, weekly four-hour shifts answering hotline calls.

    San Francisco Suicide Prevention at Felton Institute is seeking compassionate individuals to answer calls on a crisis hotline.

    Why become a volunteer with SFSP: Are you a good listener? Caring? Supportive? Understanding? Do you want to make a real difference? If you answered YES to any of these questions, then San Francisco Suicide Prevention may be right for you!

    A brief description of what you’ll be doing as a hotline volunteer:

    • Answering calls on Crisis, HIV, and Drug and Relapse lines
    • Providing emotional support in a non-judgmental manner
    • Assessing for risk of suicide, de-escalating crises
    • Providing information and referrals when appropriate
