Summary of Role: As our General Counsel, you will serve as the organization’s senior legal advisor, providing strategic legal guidance across all aspects of Solution Community’s operations and initiatives. You will oversee legal risk management, governance, compliance, contracts, and policy review, ensuring the organization operates with integrity and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

This role will act as the final legal sign-off authority on organizational agreements, policies, and legal documentation. You will also represent Solution Community externally in legal matters, negotiations, regulatory interactions, and other official proceedings as needed.

What Will You Do?

• Provide strategic legal counsel to executive leadership and department leaders on organizational, operational, governance, and compliance matters
• Review, draft, negotiate, and provide final legal approval for contracts, agreements, policies, partnerships, MOUs, and other legal documents
• Ensure organizational compliance with applicable nonprofit, employment, data privacy, intellectual property, and international operational regulations
• Advise on legal risk management and develop proactive strategies to mitigate organizational exposure
• Support governance processes, including board-related legal matters, bylaws, resolutions, and policy frameworks
• Represent Solution Community in external legal discussions, negotiations, regulatory engagements, and legal proceedings when required
• Establish and maintain legal standards, templates, and processes to support organizational scalability and operational efficiency
• Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, operations, HR, partnerships, fundraising, and technology teams on legal matters impacting organizational strategy and execution.

Who Are We Looking For?

• Licensed attorney with substantial experience in nonprofit law, corporate law, governance, compliance, contracts, or related legal practice areas, with 7+ years of progressive legal experience preferred
• Strong understanding of legal frameworks impacting international nonprofit organizations and remote global operations
• Demonstrated experience leading legal strategy, negotiations, and complex contract review processes
• Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and the ability to balance legal risk with operational objectives
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to advise senior leadership effectively
• Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-moving, multicultural environment
