The Writing Director helps lead the writing side of Culture in Sports, supporting stories that sit at the intersection of sports, culture, and community. This role is about guiding writers, shaping content, and ensuring our written work is authentic, inclusive, and aligned with our mission.
The Writing Director works closely with volunteer writers—helping them develop ideas, offering feedback, editing pieces, and supporting them through the publishing process. They help set writing guidelines, keep content organized, and ensure everything we publish reflects the voice and values of Culture in Sports.
This role also collaborates with leadership, social media, and marketing volunteers to plan content, support campaigns, and help stories reach the right audiences. Just as important, the Writing Director helps create a welcoming, supportive environment where writers feel encouraged to grow and share their perspectives.
This is a volunteer leadership role for someone who loves storytelling, sports, and community, and who enjoys mentoring others while helping amplify meaningful voices through sport.
