Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the Volunteer Director of Mental Health at EKW Foundation. As the Director of Mental Health, you will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing mental health initiatives, programs, and support services aimed at fulfilling our mission. This is an unpaid volunteer position, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful impact and contribute to the well-being of individuals within our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement mental health programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and objectives.
- Identify and utilize available resources, including volunteers, funding, and partnerships, to support mental health programs and services effectively.
- Engage with community stakeholders, mental health professionals, and partner organizations to raise awareness, promote mental health education, and facilitate access to resources.
- Oversee the development and implementation of support services for individuals struggling with mental health challenges, including helplines, support groups, and counseling services.
- Organize and conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars to educate the community on various aspects of mental health, including stigma reduction, coping strategies, and mental health first aid.
- Establish mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of mental health programs and services, gathering feedback, and making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
- Advocate for policies and practices that promote mental health awareness, accessibility, and equity at the local, regional, and national levels.
- Work closely with volunteers, staff members, and other stakeholders to foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Licensed in the state of Atlanta
- Experience working in the mental health field, preferably in program development, counseling, or advocacy.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues, including common disorders, treatment options, and the impact of stigma.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to promoting mental health awareness, advocating for individuals with mental illness, and advancing the mission of the EKW Foundation.
