    About Us

Children Striving Together is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mentorship, resources, and positive outlets for youth in underserved communities. Our mission is to create safe spaces that foster growth, creativity, and support, enabling every child to thrive.

    Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and organized volunteer to serve as a Mentorship Coordinator in our Compton and Inland Empire location. In this role, you will help manage and grow our mentorship program, serving as a bridge between mentors and mentees. Your efforts will directly support the personal and academic development of youth in our programs. This role is ideal for someone who believes in the power of connection, guidance, and community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Mentor Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist with outreach, screening, and onboarding of new mentors to ensure alignment with our mission and values.
    • Match Coordination: Pair mentors with mentees based on interests, needs, and availability. Maintain oversight of mentor-mentee relationships to ensure positive engagement.
    • Program Support: Coordinate regular check-ins, track progress, and gather feedback to enhance the mentorship experience for both mentors and mentees.
    • Event Planning: Assist in organizing virtual or in-person meetups, workshops, and recognition events that strengthen mentor-mentee relationships.
    • Data & Reporting: Maintain records of mentor and mentee activity, track program outcomes, and support reporting efforts to help CST evaluate impact.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with other volunteers, staff, and community partners to support the broader goals of Children Striving Together.

    Qualifications

    • Experience: Prior experience in mentorship, youth programming, case management, or volunteer coordination is preferred but not required.
    • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage schedules, track relationships, and handle multiple moving pieces.
    • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of supporting both youth and adult volunteers.
    • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, video conferencing, and basic databases.
    • Commitment to Youth: A sincere dedication to empowering underserved youth through consistent support and positive guidance.

    What We Offer

    • Flexible Schedule: Volunteer when it works for you - evenings, weekends, or a few hours a week.
    • Meaningful Impact: Help shape the lives of young people by fostering impactful mentoring relationships.
    • Professional Growth: Gain experience in program coordination, community engagement, and youth development.
    • Recognition: Receive a letter of recommendation and public acknowledgment for your contributions to the community.
