Why this role matters
The Woo Cycle is now out in the world, but the work doesn’t stop at publication! We’re looking for someone to take the lead on the book and help grow its reach, impact and opportunities.
From promoting the book and building partnerships to supporting sales, events and new ideas, this role is all about helping The Woo Cycle reach more families, caregivers, educators and communities.
If you love books, storytelling, community building and turning ideas into action, this could be the role for you!
What you’ll do
- Take the lead on the ongoing development and growth of The Woo Cycle project.
- Help develop and implement plans to increase awareness, reach and sales of the book.
- Identify opportunities to get The Woo Cycle into more homes, schools, libraries, organisations and communities.
- Research and build relationships with potential partners, organisations, educators, bookshops and other relevant communities.
- Support book promotions, campaigns, events, readings and other activities that help bring The Woo Cycle to more people.
- Work with the Social Media & Engagement Manager, Graphic Designers, Video Editors and wider team to promote the book across different channels.
- Support fundraising and sponsorship opportunities connected to The Woo Cycle.
- Identify opportunities for collaborations, media coverage, events and other ways to increase the book’s visibility.
- Help develop ideas for how The Woo Cycle can support Period Reality’s wider work around body literacy.
- Keep track of key activities, opportunities, partnerships and next steps for the book.
- Bring new ideas and opportunities to the team and help turn them into action.
What we’re looking for
- Someone who loves books, storytelling, education, community or social impact.
- Organised, proactive and able to take ownership of a project.
- Confident researching opportunities and reaching out to potential partners and collaborators.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Interested in marketing, partnerships, publishing, education or community engagement.
- Creative and able to come up with new ideas for growing the book’s reach.
- Reliable and able to follow through on tasks and opportunities.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with a wider creative and project team.
- Able to work independently and take initiative.
- Passionate about helping make body literacy accessible to children and families.
- Able to commit time consistently as part of a remote volunteer team.
What you’ll gain
- Hands-on experience leading the growth of a published children's book.
- Experience across book marketing, partnerships, outreach, community engagement and project development.
- The opportunity to help take The Woo Cycle into new audiences, communities and organisations.
- Experience working with a creative team across social media, design, storytelling and communications.
- Opportunities to build relationships across publishing, education, parenting, health and social impact.
- The chance to develop and implement your own ideas and see them turn into real opportunities.
- A meaningful addition to your portfolio through work on a purpose-driven children's book.
- The opportunity to contribute to a project helping families have more open and confident conversations about bodies, puberty and the menstrual cycle.
Please Note
Period Reality is a volunteer-led charity and this is a fully unpaid volunteer role. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to share their time, skills and experience to help us create meaningful impact.
