About Oppia
The Oppia Foundation works to make quality education accessible to underserved learners around the world. Through its online learning platform, Oppia, the Foundation develops interactive, story-based lessons that make learning engaging and effective for students who face barriers to education.
Built through the collaboration of volunteers, Oppia brings together people who believe that access to education should not depend on a learner’s circumstances. Our grants team helps secure the funding needed to develop this work and reach more learners.
About the role
We are looking for a Grant Writer to develop clear, well-supported funding applications. You will work with researchers and project contributors to understand the proposed work, gather evidence and prepare proposals for review. This role suits someone who enjoys shaping information into a convincing narrative and taking a draft through to completion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tailored applications. Draft letters of inquiry and proposals for opportunities selected by the team. Address the funder’s questions directly and connect the proposed activities to the needs of learners and the results Oppia aims to achieve.
- Coordinate information gathering. Work with relevant contributors to obtain project plans, impact evidence and budget inputs. Identify missing information early and keep outstanding questions organised.
- Maintain accuracy. Use approved organisational information and check that figures, activities and timelines agree across the narrative, budget and supporting documents.
- Manage drafts and revisions. Work to agreed internal deadlines, incorporate reviewer feedback and keep a clear current version. Prepare complete application materials for final approval and submission.
- Strengthen shared resources. Maintain reviewed project summaries and reusable proposal content, updating material when programme information changes.
Skills and experience
You can write and edit clear English, organise complex information and support claims with evidence. You are comfortable asking questions, working with feedback and coordinating several inputs against a deadline. Grant-writing experience is useful; experience producing proposals, reports or other substantive written work is also relevant.
