About Donna Lexa Art Centers:

At Donna Lexa Art Centers, we provide open studio art as therapy for individuals with disabilities, special needs, and military veterans. Our mission is to foster creativity, joy, and healing through art, and we are looking for passionate volunteers to help support our community.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a friendly and reliable Studio/Class Assistant Volunteer for both of our studio locations in Waukesha & West Milwaukee. This role will support instructors in our open studio art sessions, assist participants, and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment. Volunteers will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working closely with participants from diverse backgrounds, including veterans, individuals with disabilities, and elders.

Responsibilities:

• Assist instructors during studio art classes, ensuring participants have the supplies and guidance they need.
• Help with setting up and cleaning up the studio space before and after classes.
• Provide one-on-one assistance to participants when necessary, fostering an environment of encouragement and support.
• Help maintain a safe and organized workspace.
• Ensure that all participants feel welcome and included.

Qualifications:

• A passion for art and working with diverse populations.
• Ability to work with individuals with varying abilities and needs, including military veterans and individuals with disabilities.
• Reliable and punctual, with a willingness to learn and assist where needed.
• No prior art experience necessary; training will be provided.

Time Commitment:

• Volunteers should be available for at least one 2-hour class per week.
• Classes are held Tuesday through Thursday
