Holiday Food Distribution Volunteer (Ward 8, SE DC)

✨ Role Summary

Join us this holiday season to provide essential assistance directly to families in need in Ward 8, Southeast DC! As a Food Distribution Volunteer, you will be the friendly face of our mission, ensuring fresh and non-perishable goods are organized and efficiently passed out to community members. Your efforts are vital in combating food insecurity during the coldest months.

Key Responsibilities

• Set Up/Tear Down: Help organize the distribution site, including setting up tables, arranging food items, and breaking down stations afterward.
• Inventory Management: Assist in sorting, stocking, and organizing donated food items prior to and during distribution.
• Family Support: Greet families, verify necessary documentation (if applicable), and guide them through the distribution line with warmth and respect.
• Loading Assistance: Help community members safely load their food boxes/bags into their vehicles or carts.

Qualifications

• Reliability: Must be able to commit to the specified schedule slots for the duration of the holiday drive.
• Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to and from the Ward 8 location for all scheduled shifts.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods (2-3 hours) and lift up to 20 lbs.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, compassionate attitude when interacting with the public.
• Availability Weekdays:
  • Mondays: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM ET
  • Tuesdays: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET
• Age Requirement: Minimum Age,16+ (under 18 requires parental consent)
