IRB & Compliance Assistant

Overview

The IRB & Compliance Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the Kiona Foundation. This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking work in pediatric cancer research, family support, and community engagement. Volunteers in this role will work closely with a passionate and committed team to advance the Foundation’s strategic priorities.

Expected commitment is 5-8 hrs/week, with flexibility based on availability and project needs. This is a remote volunteer position unless otherwise specified.

• Assist in compiling, formatting, and proofreading IRB submissions, informed consent documents, HIPAA forms, and study protocols.

• Track approval statuses and renewal timelines for active studies, ensuring full compliance with OHRP and institutional policies.

• Support documentation for grant applications and research licenses (e.g., NYS OCM submission packets).

• Liaise with external advisors and partners to coordinate research ethics reviews and ensure data privacy protections are upheld.

Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, mission-aligned, and capable of working independently in a collaborative, virtual environment.
