We are looking for foster families:
Our mission at Lily’s Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary is to provide a safe and loving home for large breed senior dogs (50+ pounds, 7 years or older) who have been displaced from their homes and/or abandoned for any reason, until they are adopted or to remain at the sanctuary until they pass on. By becoming a senior dog foster you can help us at Lily's Legacy rescue more dogs! We receive many more requests to accept abandoned or displaced dogs than we have space available. We therefore always need volunteers to foster dogs for an indefinite period of time until those dogs are adopted. In addition, foster homes are sometimes needed on a more short-term basis, while dogs are undergoing medical treatment, their foster family is on vacation or until room for them becomes available at our sanctuary.
We provide ongoing medical care and prescription diet food if needed. Foster homes provide dogs with food, appropriate exercise, and plenty of love. A volunteer foster may be asked to transport their foster dog(s) to scheduled medical appointments or adoption events. Therefore, we ask that fosters live in the Northern California Bay Area (Marin or Sonoma counties preferred) and commit to an agreed foster period.
What is needed to be a Senior Dog Foster:
Fostering a senior dog is an immensely rewarding experience, and it changes their lives in a very direct way. Your act of kindness is repaid in rewards that are beyond words.
