Are you looking for a dentistry hands-on experience or volunteer abroad opportunity, where you will serve rural communities and will share your passion for and expertise in healthcare in Ghana? Have you ever dreamed of taking your skills overseas? If you’re a professional dentist, dental hygienist or a dental student, we can arrange volunteer placements abroad where your valued skills are much needed.

St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation can provide you with an amazing opportunity to help disadvantaged communities in a corner of the world you may otherwise never get to see. With SMWEF's dentistry volunteer program, you will have the ample opportunities to get involved directly with the treatment of local patients.

Dental volunteering and interning abroad encompasses a broad range of work and activities. Dental health volunteer experiences could vary based on location, the needs of the local population, the specific mission of the volunteer abroad project/internship, and the skills that you bring to the table.

Alongside hospitals and medical centers, dental practices are woefully understaffed in the developing countries where our volunteer placements are based. Your skill set, along with your passion for helping people and oral health, is desperately needed.

We believe everyone has a right to oral health. However, in many countries, access to dental care and oral hygiene education is limited, leading to a rising need for skilled and efficient professionals to tend to an ever-growing number of patients.

    Typical activities include:

    1. Preventative dental care
    2. Dental health education (brushing and flossing techniques, etc.)
    3. Common pediatric oral care procedures
    4. Dental health screenings
    5. Extractions
    6. Root canals and scaling
    7. Support to dental hygienists
    8. Maintenance of dental equipment
    9. Other support roles associated with running a mobile dental clinic
    10. Specialized oral health practices such as maxillofacial or orthodontics

Consider your preferences for location and project type, as well as your own expertise level. Know many programs can customize the program to fit your education and experience.

Volunteers and interns can use this program as part of their college or university placement. Placement officers at various departments helps volunteers with signing of any paper works required by the university, college or from course tutors. We have received volunteers and interns on different programs, and we have a strong collaboration with them in their respective colleges and universities.

Medical placement volunteers must have relevant medical training and certification.
