SoundBio Lab is looking for volunteers to join our working Board of Directors!
Founded in 2016 by a small collective of DIYBio enthusiasts, SoundBio Lab is a nonprofit community biology makerspace and science education lab in the heart of Seattle’s University District. We offer lab space and community project opportunities open to all experience levels, as well as affordable hands-on classes, youth and public engagement programs, and scholarships and waivers to expand access to science for all. Our co-working laboratory space and shared resources are ideal for entrepreneurs, science enthusiasts, citizen science projects, and students.
SoundBio is primarily a volunteer-run space. Our working Board provides strategic leadership while also building out and supporting our programs, operations, fundraising, volunteer engagement, and organizational systems. We're looking for individuals interested in helping with either of two areas:
- Volunteer Coordination: Help build and strengthen our volunteer programs and improve how we recruit, engage, and support our volunteers.
- Lab and Research: Provide scientific leadership and mentorship, foster collaborations and partnerships, and help make community science more accessible, impactful, and sustainable.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape hands-on community science in Seattle!
