About iPub
iPub, ipubcloud.org, is a 501(c)3 non-profit publishing organization: Our mission is to elevate stories and ideas that build bridges between communities, cultures, generations, and perspectives through books, children’s literature, fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and educational works.
Role Overview
15 – 20 hrs./month. Flexible schedule. Work from home. We are looking for Grant Research Assistants to serve as our primary prospect researchers and relationship mapper. This role is the "intelligence hub" of our development team. You will be responsible for cross-referencing our reference lists of institutional funders with our professional networks on LinkedIn to identify "warm" entry points. Your goal is to turn a static list of organizations into a dynamic, actionable campaign of human connections.
Typical Examples of Assignments
Records Overlap Research: Audit our existing "Potential Funder" lists against LinkedIn to identify shared connections, board overlaps, and mutual interests. Map the relationship "distance" between our internal team (staff/board) and key decision-makers at target foundations.
Campaign Implementation: Identify specific LinkedIn members to target for connection requests and "get-to-know-you" outreach. Coordinate with leadership to trigger outreach once a high-value overlap is discovered.
Monday.com CRM Architecture: Build and maintain the "Future Funders List" within Monday.com. Configure CRM columns to track "Connection Status" (e.g., Not Connected, Mutual Found, Outreach Sent, Meeting Scheduled). Automate notifications to the team when a lead moves from "Research" to "Active Outreach."
Skill Sets
Platform Experience - ability to work effectively with LinkedIn (Sales Navigator experience preferred) and Monday.com CRM.
Research Skills - experience with Form 990s, Foundation Directory, or similar grant research tools.
Analysis - ability to categorize and tag leads based on funding cycles, geographical focus, and relationship strength.
Writing - ability to draft brief, compelling "warm" connection notes that don't feel like spam.
The "Competitive Edge" - an ideal volunteer doesn't just find a funding source name; they find a reason. They might note that a Program Officer at Foundation X attended the same university as our Board Chair and use that data to prioritize the lead in Monday.com.
This is an opportunity to do grant-related work with professionals in non-profit environment.
