Pulling Invasive Species - Huron Hills Golf Course

As caretakers of Ann Arbor’s Natural Areas, volunteers with the Ann Arbor Parks Department serve the greater community by:

• Restoring local ecosystems
• Expanding access to quality experiences in nature
• Strengthening bonds through service

At this event, you'll help protect Ann Arbor’s biodiversity and public lands by sweeping Huron Hills Golf Course Woods for invasive herbaceous plants. This work creates more space for native plants to thrive, providing food and habitat for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.

Event Details

• Location: Huron Hills Golf Course Woods
• Meeting Point: Meet on Hunting Valley off Provincial Dr.
  • Parking: There is street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. We encourage carpooling and using public transportation, whenever possible.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Pulling spring invasive herbaceous plants
• Working off-trail
• Supporting the long-term health of this natural area

Hazards & Safety Notes

This work involves the usual hazards of being in nature, including:

• Off-trail walking on uneven surfaces and difficult footing
• Natural hazards like thorns, poison ivy, ticks, and mosquitoes may be present
• Expect to get dirty while working outdoors
• All minors must be accompanied by a guardian

What to Bring

• Long pants, tall socks, and closed-toe shoes
• Dress for the weather—likely warm and sunny
• Reusable water bottle (water refills available)
