Change a child's story. Become a Piedmont CASA Advocate.

When you advocate for children who are in the foster care system due to allegations of abuse and neglect, you give them a voice -- a voice in their recovery and in their future. You help ensure that they get the medical, emotional, and educational support they need. And you give them hope.

CASA Advocates come from all walks of life, but they share a compassion and a commitment to improving young lives. If you are interested in one of the most challenging and rewarding of Volunteer opportunities, we will train you to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate, also known as a CASA Advocate.

To learn more, register for an Information Session. To see the current schedule, go pcasa.org and click on the red Volunteer button. Scroll down to the blue bar that reads: How do I become a CASA?

Join us. Because when we build strong children, we build a strong community.

    Instrucciones:

The boys and girls we serve range in age from newborn to 18+, and include victims of abuse and neglect. CASA Advocates visit their child in a variety of settings, offering them trust and advocacy during complex legal proceedings. They explain to the child the events that are happening, the reasons they all are in court and the roles the judge, lawyers, and social workers play. CASA Advocates also encourage the child to express his or her own opinion and hopes.

No two children are alike. As a CASA Advocate, your most important job is to make sure the court knows who your child is. You accomplish that by providing the judge with a comprehensive court report based on your thorough investigation. With your court report, the judge has the information and insight he or she needs to make the best decisions for the unique child you serve.

In FY24, court reports written by Piedmont CASA Advocates contained 866 recommendations. Of those recommendations, 89% were accepted. This is a testament to the commitment of our Advocates, and to the confidence our local judges have in their reports.

You can change a child’s story – by becoming a Piedmont CASA Advocate. We will train you. You must be at least 21 years of age.
