In light of the horrific war in the Ukraine, PPSC (Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center) mobilized to form the PPSC's Refugee Support Project. We are a group of volunteers throughout the mental health community who provide crisis and support services to refugees and their families (remotely). We are desperately in need of therapists who can offer 1 hour/week pro bono (some weeks you’ll be on standby) to help us staff incoming referrals. The work is short term in nature (5 sessions, or longer term work based on your preferences). Applicants must be licensed in the state of New York. We ensure that Volunteers have access to Humanitarian-based Clinical Support (Individual or group) led by Trauma Trained therapists, in-house trainings offered pro bono by Trauma Trained professionals in the field (discounted training rates of $25/training for Volunteers with CE’s available) and extensive resources to inform your Volunteerism. Other positions include Russian and Ukrainian Translators and Asylum Advocates (training provided free of charge). We would be thrilled to offer you this Volunteer opportunity (professional letters of recommendation available upon request). Please feel free to spread the word! Every hour, every Volunteer makes a huge difference, and especially as Winter sets in, we are committed to giving a voice to those who need it most.
