Vigil Volunteer for Hospice – Ensure No One Dies Alone

ACG Hospice is seeking compassionate Vigil Volunteers to provide a calm, supportive presence for patients who are actively transitioning at the end of life.

Vigil volunteers sit bedside to ensure that no one dies alone, offering quiet companionship and comfort during the final hours or days of life. Volunteers may be contacted when a patient is nearing death and asked to sit with them for 2–4 hour visits.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a peaceful bedside presence for patients in the final stage of life
• Sit quietly, read, play soft music, or simply hold space
• Allow family members time to rest if needed
• Notify hospice staff of any changes or concerns

Training:

All volunteers receive comprehensive hospice volunteer training, including specialized Vigil Volunteer training provided by a Certified End-of-Life Doula.

No prior hospice experience is required.

• Reliable and able to serve on-call when available
