Weekly Saturday Volunteer Essentials Giveaway

africActive’s main distribution effort is every Saturday from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm at Rancho Cienega Park. We set up and box groceries and other essentials for a family to last about a week.

By Train:

Take the E line to La Brea/Expo station. Come down the east exit and follow the street into the park, see attached screenshot.

By Car:

Note: The main address of Rancho Cienega Park is on Obama Blvd., however, we are located at the back of the park. Follow these instructions:

1. If traveling East on Obama Blvd. GO PAST the park and turn right onto La Brea Blvd. If traveling West on Obama, turn left onto La Brea before reaching the park.
2. On La Brea, PASS the Superior Grocery store and the Price Self Storage then immediately TURN RIGHT onto the side street BEFORE the Metro Transit bridge. If you reach Jefferson Blvd., you’ve gone too far (See below for a screenshot of our location).
3. Drive past the line of cars (they are waiting for our food).
4. To your right you will see our location as the parking lot/park begins, and the line of cars ends.
5. Park in the parking lot and join us. :)

KEY NOTES: It is important to take care of yourself in order to care for others.

1. Bring water for yourself.
2. Wear close-toed shoes (required).
3. Park bathrooms are typically available but please note that sometimes they can be locked, which we are unable to control (it's rare but has happened).
4. Please note our service goes through lunchtime so feel free to bring yourself snacks/lunch.

Also, please note that we take a lot of pictures throughout the day. We do not post online any pictures of minors unless they are in a group picture or we have explicit written permission from the parent.
