Build Community Through Giving - Mentor a Foster Youth

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Do you want to work with a young person who needs support, care, and a role model?

We need YOU to mentor a student experiencing foster care in Alameda County. YOU MUST LIVE IN ALAMEDA COUNTY.

Be A Mentor is partnering with Alameda County Office of Education to support youth in foster care. This is an in-person mentoring program. You will spend most of your time in the community with your mentee exploring, talking, and learning about their needs.

1 on 1 mentoring gives students more opportunities for success regardless of their background. We ask a commitment of a minimum of one hour a week for a full calendar year. It’s especially important for youth who may not have consistent adults in their lives to connect with.

Consistency is important to build trust between you and your mentee.

These youth need caring adults that will maintain non-judgement and open to the child's culture and experiences.
