DISASTER ACTION TEAM (DAT) MEMBERS - Available in Philadelphia and surrounding counties.
Be there where and when your neighbors need you most!
- Provide immediate on-scene response to local disasters, mostly house fires.
- Work with a team offering access to food, clothing, and shelter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond with your team to local disasters, offering care, comfort, and compassion in accordance with Red Cross standards and procedures.
- Meeting on scene with individuals and families impacted by disasters.
- Maintain communication with team and related personnel ensuring continuity and safety.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings and stay current on all training.
- Additional related duties as discussed with supervisor.
Commitment:
- In-person, county specific position available in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and/or Philadelphia counties.
- Customizable, on-call, 4-6 hour shifts per month, which you schedule, totally 24 hours per month. If nothing happens during your window of availability (most of the time), go about your normal day. If there is an event, the expectation is you can put aside what you are doing to support the disaster response.
What makes you a great fit!
- Minimum age 18.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to arrive on scene at assigned disasters within two hours of initial call to meet your team.
- Access to reliable smartphone, computer, and Internet with ability to send/receive text messages.
- Willingness to use/learn technology required for event documentation and support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English.
- Proficient in prioritizing multiple tasks in complex, rapidly changing and stressful situations.
- Comfortable working independently and within a team.
