Reading Tutors will support small groups of students participating reading intervention at James Baldwin Elementary. Reading tutoring will include reading comprehension, fluency and vocabulary using books, articles and online resources. You will work with small groups of students grades 2-5, leading youth through various activities geared to support reading comprehension, fluency and building vocabulary.
Volunteer hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3-5:15pm. One or both days welcome.
Interested volunteers should have 1 year experience working with elementary age youth, a warm and flexible demeanor, and willingness to volunteer weekly for the fall quarter, possibly up to a whole school year.
We ask for a weekly commitment which can include all or part of a day, one or both days a week. We seek people ready for a weekly commitment for at least one quarter.
High school and College volunteers interested in service-learning hours are welcome.
