Mommy’s Heart, Inc. (EIN #87-4833078) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free legal, mental health, advocacy, and economic-empowerment services to parents and children who have escaped domestic abuse and continue to face coercive control and retaliatory litigation through the family court system.

Systemic failures and unequal access to justice often enable abusers to weaponize the courts against survivors, contributing to an estimated 58,000 children each year being court-ordered into unsupervised contact, including sole-custody arrangements, with an abusive parent. Every six days, a child dies due to family court failures.

Mommy’s Heart works to protect the fundamental rights of fit parents and ensure that no parent fears losing a child for reporting abuse. Through legal and policy advocacy, education, mental health support, and programs promoting economic self-sufficiency, we help survivors access justice, heal, rebuild their lives, and achieve long-term safety and independence.

Volunteer Description

Are you a licensed LMSW or LCSW with a heart for mentorship, social justice, and supporting the next generation of social workers? Join Mommy’s Heart as a Volunteer Supervisor for MSW student interns and help guide students completing their field education experience in a meaningful nonprofit setting.

This role is ideal for a clinician or social work professional who is interested in supporting student learning, reviewing clinical documentation, and providing supervision required by the intern’s school placement. Depending on the school’s requirements, responsibilities may include weekly meetings, review of process recordings, and periodic assessments.

Responsibilities

As a Volunteer Supervisor for MSW Student Interns at Mommy’s Heart, you may be asked to:

• • Provide regular supervision to MSW student interns, including weekly or scheduled supervision meetings.
  • Review process recordings, reflections, and student documentation as required by the intern’s school.
  • Offer feedback, coaching, and guidance to support student growth and professional development.
  • Complete periodic assessments, evaluations, or field forms required by the intern’s academic program.
  • Help orient interns to the mission, values, and services of Mommy’s Heart.
  • Support interns in understanding trauma-informed, client-centered, and advocacy-based practice.
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership to ensure a meaningful and supportive field placement experience.
  • Provide a safe, ethical, and educational supervision environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• • An active LMSW or LCSW license in good standing.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or training social work students or early-career professionals.
  • Familiarity with MSW field education expectations and school-based supervision requirements.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, advocacy, and work with vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and support student development.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to Mommy’s Heart’s mission and values.
