In‑Person | Burien, WA
Sometimes the most meaningful service is simply being there.
We are seeking a compassionate, patient volunteer to visit an older adult who has recently moved into an Adult Family Home and is experiencing significant difficulty adjusting to this major life change. Right now, this individual is in a vulnerable period and would greatly benefit from consistent, calm human connection.
Why This Role Matters
Although this participant can experience anxiety and agitation related to memory loss and confusion, something important happens when a visitor arrives:
They become noticeably calmer, more engaged, and more at ease.
Your presence can help reduce distress, provide emotional grounding, and offer reassurance during a time that feels unfamiliar and unsettling.
About the Participant
At times, the participant may express a desire to “go home” or ask questions related to their living situation. Volunteers are not expected to explain or fix these concerns—gentle listening, reassurance, and redirection are all that’s needed. Guidance and support are always provided.

Ideal Volunteer Qualities
Support & Preparation
Volunteers will connect with the care or recreation team prior to each visit to ensure everyone feels supported and prepared. You will never be expected to navigate this role alone.
The Difference You’ll Make
Your visit may be the most peaceful part of someone’s day.
Your presence can bring calm.
Your consistency can help someone feel safer in a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar.
If you’re looking for a deeply meaningful, heart‑centered way to serve your community, this opportunity offers a powerful chance to make a real difference—simply by showing up.
Thank you for considering sharing your time, compassion, and humanity.
