Do you want to help restore our local ecosystems? This project is just for you! We will be working with hand tools alongside our Department of Native Landscapes Team to remove garlic mustard, a widespread invasive species that causes erosion along riparian corridors. We will be removing the garlic mustard by hand.
Parking & Meeting Location: Parking is available at the Riverside Boat Launch located at 2584 N White River Parkway E Dr Indianapolis, IN 46208. The boat launch is located north, past the Family Center and at the next left. Restrooms will be available at Riverside Family Center which opens at 10am and is a short walk or drive away.
Safety: Close toed shoes, long-sleeves and long pants are required for this project. Volunteers not wearing long pants will be asked to instead pick up litter in the parking area. There is poison ivy present in the forest underbrush, and long sleeves and pants are strongly recommended to reduce risk of poison ivy exposure. We always recommend bringing a reusable bottle for water but we will have disposable cups available if needed. KIB will provide tools and gloves.
Transportation: IndyGo bus #15 stops at 29th St. and Riverside Drive East and is a 15 minute walk from the project. Click here to plan your trip with IndyGo!
