Descripción
The League of Women Voters of San Francisco is a nonpartisan political nonprofit that encourages informed and active participation in government.
Are you a skilled social media professional who wants to put your expertise to work for democracy? The League of Women Voters of San Francisco is looking for an experienced volunteer to help drive voter turnout through sharp, strategic content in the lead-up to the November 2026 election — and to deepen your own knowledge of elections, voting rights, and civic engagement along the way.
- Bring your social media skills to one of the most important efforts a democracy depends on: getting people to vote
- Plan and build a pipeline of compelling content to boost voter turnout and civic engagement across San Francisco
- Collaborate with LWVSF Communications Committee members, working in partnership with feedback before anything goes live
- Develop content around timely voter education topics, from election deadlines to lesser-known rights like pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-olds
- Deepen your knowledge of California election law, voting rights, and how elections actually work — from the inside
- Learn the strategies behind voter outreach — what messages motivate people to vote, and why
- Master the art of nonpartisan communication, a discipline that will sharpen your professional practice in any sector
- Expand your skills in intersectional and inclusive communication, plain language, and accessibility
- Channel your commitment to San Francisco's communities into content that strengthens democratic participation neighborhood by neighborhood
- Join a 100+ year tradition of nonpartisan civic leadership through one of the most respected voting rights organizations in the country
- A flexible, remote role — all content is drafted and scheduled in advance (no direct or reactive posting), compatible with a busy professional schedule
Qualifications
- Demonstrated social media experience, ideally in a professional or organizational context
- Able to attend monthly Communications Committee meetings (first Tuesdays, 6–7pm PT via Zoom) as well as online check-ins with our social media lead
- San Francisco resident with familiarity with the city and its communities
- Not currently employed by, on the board of, or interning for any political campaign, candidate, or political party
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
- Reliable access to a computer and internet connection
