This special project volunteer role supports Maybelle Center’s efforts to measure and strengthen belonging among our members by assisting with data entry and survey collection. Volunteers will help gather feedback from members in person and over the phone, ensuring voices are heard and reflected in the evaluation of our inclusive programs and connection opportunities.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support in-person survey collection with Maybelle members in a welcoming, respectful, and non-intrusive manner.
    • Conduct phone-based surveys following provided scripts and guidelines.
    • Enter survey responses accurately into designated Google Forms or spreadsheets.
    • Explain the purpose of the survey clearly and answer basic questions while maintaining neutrality.
    • Support members with varying comfort levels related to surveys, literacy, or technology.
    • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care.
    • Communicate patterns, challenges, or feedback trends to staff as appropriate.

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
    • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
    • Comfort engaging with diverse populations and honoring lived experiences.
    • Basic computer skills, including data entry and navigation of online forms or spreadsheets.
    • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
    • Confidence or experience in trauma-informed communication, or a willingness to learn.
    • Ability to follow instructions, scripts, and confidentiality guidelines.
    • Reliability and follow-through on scheduled shifts and project timelines.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to sit for extended periods.
    • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and phone.
    • Ability to communicate verbally and visually with members in person and over the phone.

    ORIENTATION AND TRAINING

    • Volunteers will take part in an orientation to learn about Maybelle Center.
    • Volunteers will receive training from our Inclusion Coordinator on the goals and purpose of this special project supporting our belonging survey.
    • Training will cover how to collect surveys, enter information accurately, and engage with members in a respectful and welcoming way.
    • Volunteers will receive ongoing support and guidance from the Inclusion Coordinator and program staff. Orientation and training will be completed before the first volunteer shift.
    • All orientation and training materials are currently available in English only.

    TIME COMMITMENT

    • Once training is complete and the volunteer feels confident in the role, weekday scheduling can be flexible between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Ideally, volunteers will be available to support the project for at least 4 hours per week from mid-February through mid- to late March.
    • Training will be scheduled based on mutual availability and will take place when the Inclusion Coordinator is on site. The Inclusion Coordinator works on site on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

    ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT

Survey collection and data entry may take place in the Maybelle office space or a private conference room on site. The potential for remote engagement may be an option. Volunteers will have access to staff support and a designated workspace when on site.
