Descripción
Descripción
"Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong."
Children have a 10-15-minute private session. (Generally, kids are reading 10-15 minutes, and we have more than 4 children reading.)
- Currently, the program (until the end of May) is every other Saturday from 2:30-3:30 pm and every Wednesday from 4-5 pm.
- June & July (& possibly August) - the program will be on Wednesdays & Thursdays, 3-4 pm.
Qualifications
Handlers are encouraged to sign up for one 2-hour shift per month, possibly more as needed. Sessions are: every Monday afternoon, and the second and fourth Saturday afternoons of each month. Teams must be certified through a nationally recognized therapy organization, preferably R.E.A.D. certified. The dogs must be friendly and reliable around little children. Handlers must love books and working with beginner readers. Handlers are not required to correct the readers, though gentle encouragement may be helpful.
