Join TROA and Help Build a Stronger Volunteer Experience

TROA is looking for a dependable and organized Volunteer HR Coordinator to help support the people and processes behind our growing organization.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys communication, follow-up, documentation, scheduling, and helping others feel welcomed and supported. As an HR Coordinator, you will help keep applicants, volunteers, and internal HR tasks moving with clarity and care.

TROA is a volunteer-led nonprofit, which means we are still building many of our systems. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience in nonprofit HR while helping create a stronger, more supportive volunteer experience.

    Position Overview

The HR Coordinator supports daily HR operations by assisting with recruitment tracking, interview coordination, onboarding follow-up, volunteer records, and internal communication.

This role helps make sure applicants and volunteers do not fall through the cracks. From sending follow-up emails to organizing onboarding steps, the HR Coordinator plays an important part in creating a smoother and more reliable HR process.

The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, compassionate, and comfortable helping build structure in a growing volunteer environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Recruitment & Applicant Support

    • Help track applicants, interviews, and volunteer placement updates
    • Send follow-up emails and HR communication templates
    • Assist with scheduling interviews and coordinating next steps
    • Help ensure applicants receive timely and respectful communication

    Onboarding & Documentation

    • Support onboarding checklists and required document follow-up
    • Help maintain organized applicant and volunteer records
    • Track missing forms, incomplete steps, and status updates
    • Assist with keeping HR templates and documents organized

    HR Operations Support

    • Help organize HR tasks, notes, and workflow updates
    • Communicate delays, concerns, or missing information to HR leadership
    • Support offboarding checklists when needed
    • Help improve consistency in HR processes over time

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong organization and follow-through
    • Clear written communication skills
    • Comfortable with remote communication and online systems
    • Ability to handle confidential information with care
    • Dependable, responsive, and willing to ask questions
    • Prior admin, HR, recruiting, nonprofit, or volunteer coordination experience is helpful but not required

    What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is steady, kind, and detail-oriented. This role is a good fit for someone who understands that volunteer work can be flexible, but still requires communication and follow-through.

You do not need to know everything about HR on day one. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, help build structure, and support people with patience and professionalism.

    Why This Role Matters

The HR Coordinator helps create the first real impression many volunteers have of TROA.

Your work helps applicants feel seen, volunteers feel guided, and department leaders stay informed. By helping HR stay organized, you directly support TROA’s ability to grow in a healthier, more consistent, and mission-aligned way.

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience in nonprofit HR and volunteer coordination
    • Experience with recruiting, onboarding, documentation, and HR workflows
    • Resume-building experience in a growing, mission-driven organization
    • Opportunities to help build real HR systems from the ground up
    • Stronger communication, organization, and people-support skills
    • A meaningful role in supporting a community-focused nonprofit

    How to Apply
