NAMI Clackamas Family Book Club Facilitator
In-Person Volunteer Opportunity
Give Back - Make an Impact - Change Lives
Do you have an adult family member or loved one with a mental health condition?
Are you interested in learning skills to help support others?
If so, you may be the perfect person to be a Facilitator for our NAMI Clackamas Family Book Club.
NAMI Clackamas Family Book Clubs are FREE 90-minute peer led support groups held once a month for adult family members, loved ones or caregivers of adults living with mental illness.
Family Book Clubs are led by two facilitators who have loved ones with a mental health condition. The facilitators ask structured questions about the readings to start the conversation. The group offers space and support for members to talk about their experiences with their loved ones as they reflect on the readings from the book. In these groups, family members can talk frankly about their challenges and help one another through their learned wisdom.
Successful facilitators are good listeners with an empathetic ear. They also enjoy reading and connecting others through literature.
