Café Assistant (Morning – Kupuna & Community Support)

About Us

The YMCA of Honolulu is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Kaimuki-Waialae YMCA has served East Honolulu for decades, offering programs that include early education, after-school care, aquatics, fitness and wellness classes, and enrichment opportunities for kupuna and families.

Role Description

As a Café Assistant, you’ll help create a welcoming, social environment for kupuna and members of the Y community during morning hours. This role centers on connection, hospitality, and light beverage service.

Time Commitment

• Morning position
• 1–2 hour shifts (flexible scheduling)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee and light refreshments
• Greet and engage kupuna and members in a warm, respectful way
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area
• Support morning programs and informal social gatherings

Impact

You’ll help foster connection and reduce social isolation by creating a consistent, welcoming space for kupuna and the broader community to gather.
