As a foster-based rescue, the Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC) relies on its fosters to place animals and save animal lives. Fosters help animals get ready for their forever home and are the bridge between the animals' previous life and their future furever home. As our volunteers can attest, fostering is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do.
Fostering provides the love and support the animal needs to learn about their behavior, help their socialization, and increase their chances of getting adopted. HSLC pays for all medical expenses incurred while the animal is in foster care. We ask the fosters bring their foster animal to at least one adoption event a month. We need fosters for dogs, kittens and cats.
A new foster parent will receive an initial one-on-one foster orientation meeting at your residence. Afterwards, follow-up meetings and mentoring / guidance will be provided as needed.
