Come help us plant the beginnings of a neighborhood food forest!
Volunteers are invited to join the Mid Shooks Run Community Garden for a special planting day where we’ll be installing fruit trees, berry bushes, and companion plants that will form the foundation of our new food forest.
A food forest is a layered planting system designed to mimic a natural forest ecosystem while producing edible crops. Once established, this space will provide fresh fruit, pollinator habitat, and educational opportunities for the community.
On Saturday, April 25th, volunteers will work alongside garden leaders to plant trees and perennial crops that will grow and produce for years to come. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or brand new to planting, this is a great opportunity to learn about perennial food systems while helping create something lasting. No experience is necessary. Garden leaders will demonstrate tasks and help volunteers get set up with a team.
This event is one of two volunteer opportunities to help with this project. If this date doesn’t work for you, you are welcome to join us at any of the other work days taking place over the next two weekends.
