At Bristol Hospice, we provide compassionate care to people at the end of life, and our volunteers are a very important part of that care. As a hospice volunteer, you can be a friendly face, a good listener, a companion, and a comforting presence for someone during a very meaningful time in their life.

There Are So Many Ways to Help

• Become a Companion Volunteer

Spend time with a hospice patient doing things you both enjoy. You might read together, watch a favorite show, listen to music, take a walk, play a game, or even help care for a beloved pet. Sometimes you may simply sit and talk. It doesn't have to be complicated. Your time, your presence, and your willingness to listen can make a tremendous difference.

• Veterans Helping Veterans

Veteran volunteers have a special opportunity to connect with Veteran patients because you share a common language and understanding. You may be able to talk about military experiences, share stories, or simply provide companionship. Being there for another Veteran can be an incredibly meaningful experience for both the patient and the volunteer. Be part of a beautiful ending to someone's life story. Bristol Hospice is proudly a part of We Honor Veterans, a national program dedicated to improving the care Veterans receive at the end of life.

• Do You Play an Instrument?

Music can bring comfort, memories, and joy. Bristol Hospice is looking for volunteers who play portable instruments such as guitar, violin, flute, kalimba, ukulele, harmonica, and more. Volunteers visit hospice patients in care homes and facilities and share the gift of music.

• Calling All Hairstylists!

Are you a licensed hairstylist or hair care professional? Bristol Hospice is looking for volunteers who can provide hair care services to patients in care homes and facilities. Something as simple as helping someone feel and look their best can mean so much.

• Become an Office Volunteer

Not everyone wants to visit patients, and that's okay! Office volunteers can help with a variety of projects, including making calls to families, preparing materials, organizing supplies, and other office support.
