Position Summary
The Design Manager is a creative leader responsible for producing and overseeing the development of design assets across print, digital, and multimedia platforms, including marketing materials, fundraising campaigns, reports, and social content.
The Design Manager is also responsible for managing the day-to-day design function of the organization, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and timely visual communications that advance the organization’s mission. This role bridges strategy and execution by translating brand guidelines and campaign objectives into effective design solutions, while managing workflows, mentoring designers, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
Design Execution & Brand Stewardship
- Produce and oversee the development of design assets across print, digital, and multimedia platforms, including marketing materials, fundraising campaigns, reports, and social content.
- Ensure all design work aligns with established brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and organizational values.
- Maintain and evolve templates, toolkits, and design systems to support efficiency and consistency.
Team & Workflow Management
- Manage day-to-day workflow for internal designers and freelancers, including prioritization, scheduling, and quality control.
- Provide clear creative direction, constructive feedback, and hands-on coaching to team members.
- Support performance development through regular check-ins, goal-setting, and skills development.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with communications, fundraising, digital, and program teams to understand project goals and deliver effective visual solutions.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for design requests, helping stakeholders scope projects and set realistic timelines.
- Balance multiple projects and deadlines while adapting to shifting organizational priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional design experience, with some experience managing projects or mentoring designers.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design fundamentals, brand consistency, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a non-profit, social impact, education, healthcare, or advocacy environment.
- Familiarity with digital design, UX/UI principles, and social media content.
- Experience working with external vendors, printers, or freelance creatives.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design standards.

This is a part-time, unpaid position with a recommended time commitment of approximately 8–10 hours per week.
