Our Safe Space US is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Southern Arizona and an expanding online community.

Help us make our website all we'd like it to be! Engaging, useful, speedy, welcoming, and running smoothly! We’re ready to strengthen our digital presence and are looking for an experienced SEO volunteer to help optimize our website. Bonus points for non-profit experience.

We have a small but mighty volunteer digital team in place - your role will help guide strategy, improve visibility, and ensure we’re making the most of our tools.

What You’ll Do

• Audit technical SEO, indexing, mobile usability, and site performance, giving us a practical plan in priority order.
• Work with our digital team to address performance issues and improve page titles, descriptions, headings, and internal links.
• Research relevant searches for our Tucson events, online programs, personal growth resources, and nonprofit support.
• Help create, organize and optimize a website blog using already written material. Recommending topics and edits while preserving our voice.
• Review structured data and local search information, including Google Business Profile, where appropriate.
• Use appropriate tools such as Search Console, GA4, and PageSpeed Insights to track progress and share concise updates.

Bonus Points for

• Experience with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
• Familiarity with WordPress or similar platforms
• Basic understanding of content strategy or blogging
• Ability to discuss plans and improvements to management and Board in language they can understand..

About Our Safe Space US

We provide free educational, personal growth, creative, wellness, and community-building programs designed to help people learn, connect, and thrive. Our programming includes workshops, book clubs, writing groups, discussion groups, wellness activities, social gatherings, and community service projects. We meet online and in-person - meaning our community is all over the world and a great website and digial imprint is KEY to our community.

Time Commitment

Once we get past the initial hurdles, we anticipate an average of fewer than 3 hours per month.

This is a remote volunteer position. We communicate regularly and value responsiveness, teamwork, initiative, and a healthy sense of humor.
