Purring Hearts VA is a foster-based, no-kill rescue serving the Richmond community.

We believe every cat deserves safety, medical care, and a chance at a loving home.

Purring Hearts is a volunteer-run cat rescue based in the Richmond, Virginia area dedicated to saving vulnerable cats and kittens and helping them find safe, loving homes. Our team works year-round to rescue cats from the streets, overcrowded shelters, and difficult situations, providing them with medical care, foster homes, and the support they need to thrive.

Last year alone, our organization helped rescue and care for more than 1,500 cats. Many arrive needing veterinary treatment, socialization, or time to recover before they are ready for adoption. Through a network of committed fosters, volunteers, and supporters, we make sure each cat receives compassionate care and a second chance.

Because we are entirely volunteer-driven, community support makes everything we do possible. From fostering and transport to events and nightly cat care in local pet stores, our volunteers are the heart of this work.

Together, we are building a community where every cat has the chance to be safe, healthy, and loved.
