We Reform NYC

WE Reform NYC is a community-based, non-profit organization committed to bringing meaningful structural reform to New York City through direct democracy. We are a bi-partisan, grassroots initiative, not affiliated with any political party, candidate, or special interest, driven entirely by interns and community members who believe New Yorkers deserve a more accountable, transparent, and responsive city government.

Our work centers on the NYC Charter, the foundational document that defines how city government is organized and how power is distributed. We believe the Charter, in its current form, concentrates too much power in too few hands and leaves everyday New Yorkers without a meaningful voice in critical decisions that shape their lives. We are organizing a citizen petition campaign to place targeted, bi-partisan charter reform proposals directly on the ballot, allowing New Yorkers themselves to vote on how their city is governed.

No effort of this scale has ever been attempted by a citizen-led organization in NYC history. We are building a movement, one signature at a time.
