We’re looking for two (2) thoughtful, motivated, and relationship-oriented Philanthropic Associates to support donor relations, solicitation, and engagement initiatives. In these role(s), you’ll help cultivate and strengthen relationships with donors and philanthropic partners, support fundraising and solicitation efforts, coordinate meaningful engagement opportunities, and contribute to strategies that advance our clients’ philanthropic goals.

In these positions, you’ll partner closely with colleagues, clients, donors, and community stakeholders. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in meetings and events, help facilitate donor engagement, develop thoughtful communications, and play an active role in building relationships that inspire meaningful philanthropic support.

About The Role

Position 1: 25 % remote, 75% in-person – Charleston, South Carolina

Position 2: 75% remote, 25% in-person – Washington, DC Metro/East Coast

Flexible scheduling and hours

Compensation: $38-42 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and nurture authentic relationships with current and prospective donors, learning their interests, values, and philanthropic goals
• Support and participate in donor outreach, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities
• Make phone calls, including cold calls, send personalized outreach, schedule meetings, and follow up consistently with donors and prospects
• Help prepare for and participate in donor meetings, tours, visits, events, and other engagement opportunities
• Research prospective donors and develop thoughtful strategies for building relationships and inviting philanthropic support
• Prepare proposals, talking points, meeting materials, and other resources to support fundraising conversations
• Maintain accurate donor records, track activity and follow-up, and ensure timely and thoughtful stewardship
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients to identify opportunities to deepen donor engagement and advance fundraising goals
• Learn and apply effective fundraising practices, communication strategies, and relationship-building techniques
• Provide administrative and project support as needed, with a high level of attention to detail and follow-through

Qualifications

• No bachelor’s degree required. We care more about who you are, how you treat people, and your willingness to learn than about a particular educational background
• Genuine interest in philanthropy and a desire to help people make a meaningful difference through their giving
• High integrity, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to treating donors, colleagues, and clients with honesty, respect, and care
• Warm, personable, and comfortable building genuine relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen well, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate with clarity and empathy
• Comfortable making phone calls, reaching out to new people, and having direct conversations about philanthropy and giving
• Curious, coachable, and eager to learn; you don’t need to know fundraising already, but you do need to be willing to learn and grow
• Highly organized and dependable, with the ability to manage follow-up, deadlines, and multiple relationships with care
• Able to work independently while also collaborating closely with colleagues and clients
• Comfortable using everyday technology, including generative AI, email, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and donor databases or other CRM systems; experience with fundraising tools is helpful but not required
• Proactive, resourceful, and willing to take initiative
• Most importantly, you care about people, do the right thing, and want to learn how to help donors make a difference
