Senior Director, Project Management

Overview: The Senior Director of Project Management serves a blended role – leading the project management team and Zuri Group’s Project Management Office (PMO), and providing consulting services to Zuri Group clients and on internal development projects. The project management team provides flexible, scalable, and comprehensive management for all Zuri Group projects. Leadership of this team includes managing the project managers, liaising with Finance, and serving as an advocate and champion for project management methodology, internally and with clients where necessary.

The Senior Director also provides consulting on PMI project management and implementation best practices pertaining to fundraising systems such as Salesforce, Blackbaud CRM, Luminate Online, Engaging Networks, and others. These best practices include, but are not limited to, project methodology, change management, risk mitigation, and the effective use of project management software and communication tools.

Typical client projects include a team of experts advising on the complete functionality of fundraising software systems, including business process improvement, system configuration, conversion mapping and validation, system customization, reporting and data visualization, user acceptance testing, end-user training, deployment, and post-launch support.

Job Responsibilities

• • Demonstrate exceptional project management skills in all phases of a project: initiation, planning, execution, monitor & control, closure.
  • Work effectively in a variety of project methodologies (waterfall, agile, hybrid) and train Zuri staff and clients to assess the best approach for any project.
  • Champion project management as an essential role in project and client success, and advocate for broad adoption of and adherence to project management best practices. Train and mentor others accordingly, both within and outside of the PM team.
  • Proactively provide recommendations and best practice advice on meeting goals through software system configuration, customization, process improvement, and/or staff training.
  • Proactively manage the utilization of the project management team by gathering and analyzing forecast data and participating in Zuri Group resourcing meetings.
  • Assist Zuri Group’s Human Resource team through the day-to-day management of the project management team.
  • Adhere to Zuri Group’s management standards for leadership, communication, administration, performance management, team building, strategic thinking, and conflict resolution.
  • Respond to escalated project related issues that may impede project delivery and coordinate solutions.

Relevant Skills & Experience

• • 8+ years of direct project management experience required with strong knowledge of project management principles and concepts or equivalent combination of experience and tenure.
  • 8+ years of direct leadership, people management and mentorship experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry leading CRM software (BBCRM, Salesforce, for example) & experience in managing system implementation.
  • Ability to effectively manage a team of 5+ project managers with different project priorities, building consistency and cohesion.
  • PMP and/or PM additional certifications required.
  • Working knowledge in advanced PM tools: JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project, etc.
  • Familiarity with non-profit, healthcare or higher education fundraising and business processes.
  • Ability to collaborate and establish strong working relationships with various teams and lead conversations about technical concepts with audiences of varying levels of experience, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand the different roles on the team at a granular level, how they are staffed and managed.
  • Highly analytical, technically proficient, and able to learn new tools and software quickly.
  • Drive to solve problems efficiently, creatively, and independently.
  • Knowledge sharing includes participating in the client community or mentoring/training colleagues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Bonus Points

• • Experience working with large non-profit or higher education organizations, with knowledge of applicable fundraising and business processes.

Salary range for this role is $130,000 to $145,000 per year, depending on experience.
