    Role Summary

    Avow is seeking an organizing leader who believes that culture change drives political change and knows how to make it happen. This role is ideal for someone who brings people together with power and compassion to follow a powerbuilding analysis rooted in the realities of bodily autonomy. This role calls for someone who is excited to build leadership pipelines, shape culture, and mobilize communities across Texas. The Movement Power Director is a critical part of Avow’s work to lead boldly and grow a movement that can’t be ignored.

    The Director of Movement Power leads Avow’s organizing, electoral, and civic engagement strategies, ensuring that our work builds sustained power for abortion access and reproductive justice in Texas. This role is responsible for developing and executing political organizing strategies, base-building initiatives, electoral justice campaigns, and mobilization efforts that align with Avow’s theory of change. The Director of Movement Power works closely with community partners, political allies, and internal teams to advance people's power, community leadership, policies, and narratives that strengthen abortion access and reproductive justice in Texas.

    The salary for this full-time role is set at $90,000 annually.

    Required Qualifications

    You’ll be a fit for this role if your experience includes 5-7 years of:

    • Grassroots, electoral, or issue-based organizing, including leading statewide or multi-regional campaigns.
    • Proven track record of building and managing strong, diverse teams and cultivating leadership pipelines within marginalized communities.
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate cultural, political, and narrative strategies to advance policy and movement goals.
    • Deep understanding of and commitment to feminist, abolitionist, and/or reproductive justice frameworks, with specific experience in gender justice work.
    • Skilled in developing and sustaining strategic relationships with elected officials, coalition partners, and community leaders.
    • Strong facilitation, political education, and power-mapping skills, with experience in designing and leading campaigns that shift both culture and policy.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement.

    Preferred Qualifications

    While not required, you will be an excellent fit for this role if your experience includes 3-5 years of:

    • Experience organizing within Texas or other Southern political landscapes, with a strong grasp of local and state-level power dynamics.
    • Background in pro-abortion advocacy and reproductive justice campaigns, including coalition-based work.
    • Multilingual skills, especially in Spanish or other languages spoken in Texas communities.
    • Experience in policy advocacy, political endorsements, and electoral strategy design.
    • Familiarity with digital organizing tools, data management systems, and emerging technology for movement-building.
    • Demonstrated ability to navigate high-pressure political environments while maintaining a values-based, people-centered approach.
