Martha has been working with and within nonprofit organizations for more than 20 years. Before launching Hazen in 2003, Martha led Defenders of Wildlife's fundraising team for nine years.

Martha's clients are comprised of international, national, regional and local nonprofit organizations. Her current and recent clients include Best Buddies International, American Red Cross, National Aquariums in Baltimore and Washington DC, the Epilepsy Foundation and Safe Kids Worldwide. Martha is a recognized expert on Major Gifts; Nonprofit Organizational, Staff and Board Development; and Capital Campaign Strategy.

Martha serves on the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) International Board of Directors. She was recently named the Outstanding Professional Fundraiser of the Year by the AFP Washington DC Metro Area Chapter (AFP/DC) and is a past AFP/DC president.
